So things indeed turn out that we got to see the Chicago Cubs' second game of the season.
This means I got to see FukudomeMania in person.
It is real, at least so far. I saw the Cubs with Sosa, a couple of years after the McGuire/Sosa run. I think Fukudome is more popular.
He looks like an amazing athlete. He was unimpressive this game (0 for 3 with a walk), but otherwise, he has a good start.
I got to see a few stars- Soriano, Prince Fielder (they were playing the Brewers), Derek Lee hit a home run. There were three players I had seen play with Iowa last year. Ted Lilly and Jeff Suppan were the pitchers. Bears TE Greg Olsen did the seventh inning stretch.
It was cold. A high temperature of 50, but the wind and being in the shade did not help. Still, we all agreed later, that it was still worth it.
I love Wrigley Field. It is the place to watch a baseball game (with the exception of the outdated, homoerotic troughs). This was my third time there, but well worth it. We sat behind home plate in fairly decent seats. We hit the Patio often to warm up.
As the schedule permitted, that was the only place we went that was 'touristy', but I think we all thought that was the best use of time.
